Sometimes social media can be overwhelming. You might have your photographs and albums on one website while your store movies on another website. You might feel that you are limited to sharing music with friends through email. The problem is you want all your digital media on one site so your friends don’t have to search around to see all your favorites. Think how much easier it would be if all your digital media was in one spot, ready for sharing. You can do this by creating a website that incorporates all your digital media by using embedded codes.

Adding video to your website can be done in just a few simple steps. All you have to do is upload your videos to YouTube then look for the “Embed” link. Copy and paste the code displayed and paste the code into your own web page HTML. You can also use programs such as QuickTime to embed movies into web pages.

Share your favorite pictures as a slideshow on your website by using online programs like Picasa. Simply go to an album on your “My Photos” page in Picasa then select “Link to this album.” Choose “embed slideshow” and select your settings. Copy the HTML code and place it into your website code for a fully functional slideshow.

If you love music, and want to share some of your favorite tunes with your friends then use websites such as ILike.com to create playlists for sharing. Once you’ve created a list, click the “Done” button and copy the code that appears in the text field. Add the code to your own personal website.

Now all your digital media is in one spot. If your friends are having trouble seeing it, they might need to download plug-ins for Flash, QuickTime, and RealPlayer. These are common software downloads, and they will most likely already have them installed, but it never hurts to double-check.
